22-year-old Eyram Tamakloe, an electrical and electronic engineering major student, has built a portable monitoring device and a dosage counter to help asthmatic children easily recognise triggers.
The device can alert a user to retrieve an inhaler urgently.

“The dosage counter also monitors how many times an inhaler was used per day. This information is also included in a database and helps the doctor determine if adjustments need to be made to improve the user’s condition, she said.

Eyram, a student at Ashesi University, said her project was inspired by her own experiences growing up as a child with asthma. “It was not easy. I did this project to help children be able to monitor their condition,” she added.
