The 10 best cities and regions to visit in Ghana and why?

Ghana has a lot to offer travelers, with a rich culture, history, and natural beauty. But have you ever wondered if there was a top 10 of the best places to visit where would they rank. Well here goes. this is not officially but this is our take on the 10 of the best cities and regions in Ghana and and how they rank.

 

  1. Accra: Obviously this has to be number 1 as its the capital. This capital city keeps advancing each year. We are sure that in the next 10 years Accra will start to resemble Wakanda. As technology and heritage start to combine to make the technological advanced city. The capital city of Ghana, Accra is a vibrant and bustling city with a rich history and culture. It has several landmarks, including the Independence Arch and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, as well as great beaches, markets, and restaurants.

 

  1. Kumasi: Second largest and number 2 on the list. Kumasi seems to be the culture hub, its advancing but it seems to be keeping more of the traditions of Ghana and is a great place to get away from Accra. Known as the cultural capital of Ghana, Kumasi is the second-largest city in Ghana and is home to several museums, including the Manhyia Palace Museum and the National Cultural Centre. It is also known for its Kente weaving and traditional crafts.

 

  1. Cape Coast: Located on the coast of Ghana, Cape Coast is a historic city that played a key role in the slave trade. It has several landmarks, including the Cape Coast Castle and the Kakum National Park.

  1. Takoradi: Takoradi is a port city in western Ghana that is known for its beautiful beaches and great seafood. It is also a gateway to several nearby attractions, including the Nzulezo Stilt Village and the Ankasa Conservation Area.

 

  1. Tamale: Tamale is the largest city in northern Ghana and is known for its rich cultural heritage. It has several markets, mosques, and museums, including the Northern Regional Museum.

 

  1. Volta Region: The Volta Region is located in eastern Ghana and is known for its natural beauty, including the Wli Waterfalls and the Mount Afadja. It is also home to several traditional villages and festivals.

 

  1. Eastern Region: The Eastern Region is known for its scenic beauty, including the Boti Falls and the Aburi Botanical Gardens. It is also home to several traditional crafts, including pottery and kente weaving.

 

  1. Western Region: The Western Region is home to several historic landmarks, including the Cape Three Points Lighthouse and the Fort Metal Cross. It is also known for its beautiful beaches and great seafood.

 

  1. Brong-Ahafo Region: The Brong-Ahafo Region is located in central Ghana and is known for its agricultural heritage. It has several festivals, including the Kintampo Waterfalls Festival and the Fiok Festival.

 

  1. Northern Region: The Northern Region is known for its rich cultural heritage and traditional crafts, including basket weaving and pottery. It is also home to several wildlife reserves, including the Mole National Park.

 

Each of these cities and regions offers something unique to visitors, whether it’s cultural attractions, natural beauty, or historic landmarks.
