Kezia is a law student who is also the founder of For The Future Ghana (FTF), a charity that supports underprivileged children by sponsoring their education, boosting their wellbeing, and providing them with life opportunities. Kezia started FTF back in high school when she convinced her classmates (as well as students in other schools) to help her launch the charity. Six years after FTF was founded, it has directly impacted the lives of over 3,000 underprivileged children in underserved communities across Ghana by providing them with food and educational materials to ensure that they receive quality education. Kezia herself currently teaches and mentors thirteen children who live in disadvantaged areas: her goal is to use her voice and legal skills to fight child poverty and reduce the educational inequalities that affect children born into unfortunate circumstances.

As the founder of FTF, Kezia has inspired a team of 30 young people across different universities to work with her, as well as hundreds of volunteers who are passionate about the charity’s work. One of the most impactful partnerships that FTF has entered into is with School-In-A-Bag – a charity organization based in the United Kingdom that manufactures rucksacks and fills them with stationery and hygiene kits to distribute to underprivileged children in remote areas across the globe. Through FTF’s partnership arrangement, over 800 fully equipped school bags have been donated to underprivileged children in the remotest of areas in Ghana, and amongst a diverse range of ethnic backgrounds.

Kezia’s work with FTF has not gone unnoticed. She has been invited by a number of schools to mentor their students or speak at their Speech Day, Prize Day and Graduation Day events. In 2020, she was named Female Entrepreneur of the Year at the Young Achiever’s Summit, a local award scheme to recognize and reward young entrepreneurs who are excelling in their fields. That same year, FTF also won the Project/Initiative Award at the Young Achiever’s Summit, and in 2022, it won the Community Influencer of the Year Pan African award from Pulse Africa, a well-known news agency.

With the Global Student Prize funds, Kezia would acquire and furnish a facility to provide underprivileged children with access to learning materials and educational technology. The centre will promote intercultural partnerships by encouraging the children to learn, play and work together – helping them become inquisitive life-long learners through explorative, play-based and project-based learning across all levels. Kezia would like to put the beneficiaries of FTF on health insurance to cater for any unfortunate incidence of poor health that may affect them; she would also like to increase FTF’s scope and offer its services to more beneficiaries, so that more children can be taken out of poverty, offered opportunities, and enabled to thrive.
