Thiago Alcantara is set to announce his retirement from football soon after his move to Liverpool. Fabrizio Romano revealed the decision of the Spanish midfielder, who is ready for a new chapter in his professional life despite interest from Girona and Saudi Arabia.

Thiago Alcantara is no longer a Liverpool player. The Spanish midfielder said goodbye to Anfield and in this situation, now 33 years old, he prefers to step aside and leave football for good, or at least as a player.

Fabrizio Romano reported this Sunday about the decision he has taken despite the teams that showed interest in his signing. Girona in La Liga were interested in the midfielder, but he declined, as did a few Saudi Arabian clubs.

Although he still had the quality to continue playing, injuries prevented him from making the step up to the next level. At Bayern Munich, he began to suffer physical problems under Hansi Flick, who will not be able to reunite with the midfielder at Barcelona.

Thiago Alcantara retires from football with two Champions League titles, two Club World Cups, seven Bundesliga titles, four La Liga titles and four DFB Pokal titles to his name. He will hang up his boots at the age of 33, but the legacy he leaves behind on the pitch will live on in the memory.
