Ohene Kwame Frimpong Reveals Support Behind Medikal’s Sold-Out Concert at Indigo at the O2

Ohene Kwame Frimpong, the driving force behind Medikal’s sold-out concert at the Indigo at the O2, has shed light on the overwhelming support he received from the performing artistes. Speaking with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, Frimpong, who is also an independent parliamentary candidate for the Asante Akyem North Constituency, revealed that nearly all the artistes covered their own expenses for the event.

According to Frimpong, out of all the performers who graced the stage, only a few required financial assistance from the organizers. He expressed deep gratitude for their commitment and generosity.

“All the acts that came to support Medikal, it’s just about two of them that we had to pay for some things, hotel and a few things. Almost all of them, they took the financial part themselves,” Frimpong said. He went on to clarify that no performance fees were paid to any of the artistes.

“Definitely, we didn’t do anything for Shatta Wale. That’s the only one I will mention. The rest I won’t say,” Frimpong added, acknowledging the selfless contribution of the dancehall star without delving into further details.

The concert, which took place on May 3, 2024, in London, featured an impressive lineup of popular Ghanaian artistes, including Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Sister Derby, Jah Bahd, and Efya. The show was a resounding success, further cementing Medikal’s status as a top-tier artiste in the Ghanaian music industry.

Frimpong also reflected on his previous ventures in the UK music scene, sharing that his first event in 2018, which featured Amakye Dede and Kuami Eugene, did not meet expectations due to his inexperience at the time. However, he highlighted the lessons learned and how they contributed to the success of subsequent events, such as Medikal’s sold-out concert.
