According to reports in Spain, Argentina star Lionel Messi is rumored to be moving on loan to Barcelona after Inter Miami were eliminated from MLS playoff contention.
There will be no Hollywood ending to Lionel Messi’s first season in Major League Soccer after his Inter Miami team were eliminated from contention for the playoffs after a 1-0 defeat at home to FC Cincinnati on Saturday.
If an MLS team doesn’t qualify for the playoffs, players can be loaned for six months to another team, as did Thierry Henry, who played for New York RB and went on loan to Arsenal, and David Beckham, who returned to AC Milan on loan from LA Galaxy.
As a result, Spanish reports are rumouring Messi’s possible return to his boyhood club for six months. And not only the Spanish press, Barcelona also dropped some hints on social media.
