The Chiefs and people of Akatsi North, located in the Volta Region, have praised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for its Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, citing its transformative impact on education in the country. The commendation was made on Tuesday, during Vice President and NPP Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s visit to Ave Havi, a town in the Akatsi North Constituency.
Speaking on behalf of the Chiefs, Torgbui Adogo Agbalek applauded the NPP government for initiating several social intervention programs, with particular emphasis on the Free SHS policy, which he said had “revolutionized education by providing millions of Ghanaian children with access to secondary education for free.”
The Chiefs highlighted the positive changes brought to the local educational landscape, specifically noting developments at Ave Senior High School, which has seen the construction of dormitory and classroom blocks as well as the provision of a school bus. These contributions, they said, have greatly enhanced the school’s capacity to provide quality education.
Beyond education, the Chiefs expressed gratitude for other NPP-initiated projects in the district. These include the construction of District Assembly offices, a Magistrate Court, residential bungalows, and kindergarten blocks. They also acknowledged the ongoing construction of the Agenda 111 District Hospital and the provision of DRIP equipment for road rehabilitation.
During the visit, the Chiefs also honored Dr. Bawumia for his contributions to the nation’s governance as Vice President. They praised his leadership and commitment to driving economic growth and improving governance, describing him as a key figure in enhancing the overall well-being of Ghanaians.
“We acknowledge his dedication to public service and his unwavering commitment to the country’s progress, evident in his tireless efforts to drive economic growth, improve governance, and enhance the overall well-being of Ghanaians,” the Chiefs remarked.
In a symbolic gesture of support, the traditional rulers placed traditional leaves around Dr. Bawumia’s neck, signifying their confidence in him and expressing their anticipation of his inauguration as Ghana’s next President in 2025.
The visit marked another significant moment in Dr. Bawumia’s campaign, as he continues to strengthen ties with various communities across the country in the lead-up to the 2024 presidential elections.
