CodeRaccoon, a German Information Technology (IT) outsourcing company, is offering Ghanaian IT professionals remote work opportunities. So far, 11 software developers have been recruited, with plans to expand further locally.
During an interactive session held in Accra, the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Jorn Jalsinger, emphasized the global demand for IT professionals, which far exceeds supply, driving their decision to tap into local talent. He highlighted that CodeRaccoon’s presence in Ghana demonstrates that “talent is not confined by location,” as globalization provides more avenues for collaboration.
“Germany, like many other countries, faces a challenge where the demand for IT professionals far exceeds the supply,” Mr. Jalsinger said. “At the same time, here in Ghana, we see a young, dynamic generation ready to prove itself – full of ideas, ambition, and talent. Yet, too often, opportunities are limited… We want to change that!”
He described CodeRaccoon as a “bridge” connecting talented developers in Ghana with companies in need of solutions globally, emphasizing the company’s role in creating not just jobs but also long-term career opportunities and partnerships.
“We are not just creating jobs – we are building careers, opportunities, and long-lasting partnerships,” he said. He further noted the importance of Africa, especially Ghana, participating in the digital revolution, which has largely been led by the Global North.
The recruits will receive specialized training, and the company plans to scale up from the current number to 40 within the first year, with the goal of reaching 500 developers within the next three to five years.
Dr. Michael Blank, Head of Delegation for German Industry and Commerce in Ghana, praised the initiative, urging young Ghanaians to seize the opportunity. He also noted that this approach allows IT professionals to stay in their home countries while still gaining international exposure.
“The young Ghanaians who have been employed here don’t have to leave the country… sometimes people prefer to stay in their home countries,” Dr. Blank said, adding that CodeRaccoon is setting an example with its business model
