Ghana Shippers Authority Commits to Addressing Challenges in the Shea Butter Industry

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA), Professor Ransford Gyampo has reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to tackle the operational challenges faced by the producers of shea butter in the Northern Region.

Prof. Gyampo reiterated his commitment to expand and enhance the country’s commercial shipping industry when he engaged top Platinum shippers. He made this pledge during a working visit to Tamale on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

As part of the visit, the CEO toured two leading shea-based companies; Sekaf Ghana Limited, a producer of unrefined organic shea butter and beauty products, and Savannah Fruits Company, a processor of natural products for the international edible and cosmetic markets.

His visit sought to better understand the constraints affecting their operations and explore avenues for GSA’s intervention to facilitate trade growth.

The CEO was impressed with Savannah Fruits Company’s robust integrated supply chain management systems. The company proudly displayed its international certifications for quality and ethical practices, reaffirming its commitment to global standards and Ghana’s export ambitions.

Interacting with the company, Prof. Gyampo acknowledged the challenges these companies face in shipping their products to international markets.

He assured them that the GSA is working tirelessly to streamline export processes, reduce bottlenecks, and enhance the competitiveness of Ghanaian shea butter on the global stage.

The CEO’s commitment aligns with the broader vision of improving Ghana’s export landscape, ensuring that local businesses can compete favorably in international markets. He emphasized that the GSA would collaborate with key stakeholders to create a more favorable business environment.
