I Wanted to Protect My Wife from Social Media Criticism – Bisa Kdei on Why He Kept His Wedding a Secret

In recent years, many celebrities have opted to keep their personal lives off social media, seeking to protect themselves and their loved ones from the barrage of opinions and criticisms that often come with fame.

The intense scrutiny and negativity that can arise from sharing private moments online have led public figures to value their privacy more than ever. This trend of keeping personal matters out of the public eye is becoming increasingly common, as stars prioritize their mental well-being and the sanctity of their relationships.

Ghanaian highlife singer and songwriter,  Bisa Kdei is one such celebrity who has chosen to shield his private life from the public glare. He recently opened up about his decision to keep his wedding a secret, aiming to protect his wife from the potential negativity on social media.

Speaking with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, the artist who is known in private life as Ronald Kweku Dei Appiah  shared his reasons for keeping the event private. He revealed that his wedding, which took place in January, was intended to be a low-key affair.

“I wasn’t scared. I am protecting my wife from social media. I don’t want people to come and say anything about my marriage. That is how I like it.

“My wedding was a coded affair. I did it in January. I didn’t want anybody to hear about it. Somebody leaked the video. There were soldiers and a lot of people at the ceremony,” he explained.

The ‘Mansa’ hitmaker further explained his desire for privacy by recounting an experience at one of President Akufo-Addo’s daughter’s weddings. Despite strict measures to prevent photos from being taken, someone still managed to capture and share images on social media.

Bisa Kdei also reflected on how news of his mother’s passing was leaked online before he could even announce it, underscoring his preference for keeping personal matters private.
