James Maddison, who was key to Tottenham snatching a point from Arsenal in the North London Derby, spoke about his two assists for Son and the partnership between the two.
James Maddison is undoubtedly making an instant impact at Tottenham. The playmaker left relegated Leicester this summer after five seasons with the Foxes to join Spurs on a five-year deal.
The England international is excelling at the start of the season under Ange Postecoglou, having made seven competitive appearances, six of them starts, scoring two goals and providing four assists.
Of Maddison’s four assists in just seven games, two of them were to the same player in the same game. The former Foxes player assisted Son twice as the South Korean earned Tottenham a draw against Arsenal in the North London derby.
Many Tottenham fans feared that after Kane left the English side, Son would not have another player to form a lethal partnership with. However, the South Korea international is forming an incredible duo with the England playmaker.
James Maddison spoke about his incredible performance against the Gunners and his understanding with Son on the pitch. “In the last weeks Sonny has gone more central and is playing as the nine so as a number eight or 10. You normally want to have a nice relationship with your striker because when you get turned, he’s the one you are looking for.
“Sonny is such a good guy that we get on really off the pitch which helps on the pitch. In training when we are working on little through balls and it’s still early, we are still figuring each other out. But I’m starting to know what he likes, his movements, and hopefully that can continue,” he concluded.
