As well as sealing the deals for stars – De Ligt, Ugarte, Zirzkee – Manchester United have equally been looking to add up-and-coming talents to their academy squad. Samuel Lusale and James Overy have officially joined the Red Devils. United have had to wait for Premier League and FA approvals to officialise the signings, despite the moves being completed earlier on. Having received clearance, Lusale and Overy can now train with United and will be looking to make their debuts soon.
16-year-old Lusale arrives to the academy from Crystal Palace. The youngster has especially gone under scouts’ radars after showcasing his potential with Slovakia during the international break – scoring one goal and one assist against Wales in the under-18s game.
Full-back James Overy , on the other hand, arrives from Australia, where he played for Perth Glory. Former coach Marc Revell has compared the 17-year-old’s playing style with that of giants of the game such as Cafu and Roberto Carlos. “Very much of an attacking wing back, suited to today’s modern game where the fullback spends most of their time in the opponent’s half,” he said speaking to ‘Mid Devon Advertiser’.
Man United have also completed the signing of youth sensation Chido Obi-Martin from Arsenal, however, the striker is yet to receive clearance. The move is expected to be simply a matter of time and could be completed imminently, as no issues have been reported.
