Public cautioned against fake social media accounts impersonating prominent figures, urging users to verify and report fraudulent profiles to authorities.

The rise of fraudulent social media accounts impersonating well-known public figures has become a growing concern. These fake accounts, often created on platforms like Facebook and Twitter, engage in deceptive activities aimed at defrauding unsuspecting individuals. Fraudulent accounts on social media can cause significant harm.

Impersonators typically promise assistance with job opportunities, recruitment into security services, or other false benefits, luring their victims into scams. As a result, prominent personalities are warning the public to be cautious and vigilant about fraudulent accounts on social media.

One such public figure recently released a statement reminding people to verify the authenticity of social media accounts before engaging. “My official accounts are verified with a blue checkmark, which distinguishes them from the fake ones,” the individual emphasized, urging followers to look out for these indicators to avoid being misled by fraudulent social media accounts.

The statement also clarified that the official accounts are limited to specific platforms and advised against engaging with accounts on other networks that claim to represent the individual. “I do not have any presence on Instagram, TikTok, or any platform apart from Facebook and Twitter,” the statement added. This is a common tactic employed by those managing fraudulent accounts on social media.

The public is encouraged to report suspicious or fraudulent accounts to the relevant authorities for further investigation and to help prevent others from falling victim to these scams.

Authorities advise social media users to be cautious, verify profiles, and refrain from sharing personal or financial information with accounts that cannot be confirmed as legitimate.
