One of the major reasons people often feel frustrated at themselves and at life is the quest and pursuit of trying to be the best. They want to be the best musician, the best actor, the best businessperson, the best copywriter and the best anything you can think of. And when it seems as if this desire is not forth coming, you can literally see frustration all over.
.
Trying to be the best indirectly communicate something you don’t know about which is, you are trying to measure yourself, your success and progress with that of everyone out there. And that’s a very wrong measurement. You don’t measure yourself with anyone, it is an insult to yourself. You cannot be the best but you can be “Your Best”. You can be your best at what you do.
.
You see, there would always be someone who is better than you at what you do. So, measuring or comparing yourself with people will always set you up for frustration. Is it not liberating to know that instead of pursuing to be the best, you can just work on yourself to be your best? It is in been yourself you make most use of the resources within you.
.
Dear Leader, think of something you are good at. How can you be your best at it? Remember I’m not asking you how you can be the best but how you can be your best. Supposing a girl starts comparing her beauty with that of every other girl out there, isn’t that a full invitation of frustration?
.
So, stop making comparison. It is the game of fools. Don’t give people room to compare you with anyone else. Compare yourself with yourself. You used to be someone in the past five years, compare yourself today with yourself in the past five years. You will amaze yourself at the progress you’ve made. If there is something you should learn today, it should be not to compare yourself with anyone, but to compare yourself with yourself. That way, you live the most fulfilling life.
