Berry Ladies were beaten 1:0 by Hasaacas Ladies in week one of the Ghana Women’s Premier League at the Gyandu Park in Sekondi on Saturday, October 8, 2022.
And even though her side were beaten by the former league champions, Gifty Oware-Mensah believes the performance of the center referee was applauded and has entreated other Ghanaian referees to emulate.

“For today if there is anybody who deserves an award, I think is the referee, because the referee was very fair, she was communicating with her lines and everything that was done, both of us were happy and comfortable with officiating which I think is the best decision that any referee can make and today I think she did extremely well which really is what we expect other referees to emulate and today Hasaacas Ladies comported themselves well”, she said.

She also commended the Berry Ladies players for an awesome showdown against Hasaacas Ladies and believe they will win the league should they continue to exhibit same performance in every game of the ongoing league season.
“I think today the girls played well, they have proved they have a lot of technical strength but football is about winning which obvious they ‘ve lost but then am not angry because everybody who watched the game know that they were far better a team than the opponent”, she said.
“If my team will continue to play this way I think we still have the chance to win the league because Hasaacas Ladies will also come to our home ”
