Man City's Haaland doesnt do well against Premier League top clubs

Manchester City’s Erling Braut Haaland has just four goals and one assist against teams in the top half of the Premier League table. In the last game against Arsenal, he failed to score a goal or provide an assist. However, he remains at the top of the top scorers’ chart in the English top flight.

Norwegian striker Erling Haaland had a poor game against Arsenal, and that’s not the first time he has played against teams in the top half of the Premier League table. The Cityzens striker did not score a goal and did not provide any assists either.

Haaland has just four goals and one assist against the top teams in the English domestic championship this season. He has played a total of 8 games so far against the 6 best teams in the English top flight. Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Tottenham have been a tough nut to crack for the Norwegian, scoring just once. On the other hand, Manchester United is the team in the top half that has suited him best. Against the Red Devils, the striker has scored three goals and provided one in the two Manchester derbies of the campaign.

To improve his statistics against the best in English football, Haaland has only two chances left. He has already played in both the first and second legs against Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United. His next league game is against Aston Villa and then he will have another option against Tottenham.

In the case of analysing his role against the famous ‘Big Six’, we would change Aston Villa for Chelsea, the striker improves a bit his numbers. In 9 games, Haaland has scored 6 goals and provided 2 assists. But we have to remember that the Blues are in 10th position in the Premier League and that they are not shining for their defensive solidity.

Despite not having as memorable a season as last year, the Manchester City player is the top scorer in the English Premier League. The Norwegian leads the way with 18 goals. Of these, only 22% have come against top-ranked teams. On the other hand, 33% have come against the ‘Big Six’.

Pep Guardiola’s side is feeling the effects of their star striker’s lack of goalscoring prowess. Manchester City have not yet managed to win against the Premier League’s top five. They have only beaten Manchester United in the iconic ‘Big Six’.
