JOB 1: Agricultural Programs Lead – KOA

The Agricultural Programs Lead will ensure a sustainable training and production regime for cocoa farmers (organic, regenerative and conventional cocoa farmers) to enhance their yields and provide optimum yield forecasts to aid our Raw Material Sourcing targets efficiently.

This role involves collaborating with farmers, government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to implement initiatives that support the growth and development of the cocoa sector. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of agricultural practices, a passion for organic and sustainable farming, and the ability to drive impactful programs in the cocoa industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Yield Prediction

• Develop a yield prediction model/tool and coordinate its continuous upgrade and implementation

• Provide yield prediction reports periodically to operations (sourcing) to aid operations planning Yield optimization and longevity of farming

• Plan strategic projects and activities to improve crop yields

• Develop a Lighthouse Agricultural Practices Concept (LAPC) (incl. pruning, fertilizer, pollination, etc.) to optimize raw material yields

• Establish model farm(s) to verify, continuously improve and showcase the LAPC

• Derive and continuously improve a scaling concept to implement LAPC practices across our cooperating farmers

• Coordinate the implementation of the LAPC within contracted farms to attain optimum yields

• Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the LAPC practices

• Develop a data collection approach in cooperation with the IT & Data Departments Stakeholder Management

• Minimum of 5 years work experience in a related field

• Strong analytical skills

• In-depth knowledge of sustainable agriculture and organic farming and certification procedures related to cocoa production.

JOB 2 – Quality Assurance Field Officer – KOA

The Quality Assurance Field Officer will ensure adherence to predetermined quality standards by overseeing various quality assurance activities on the field. These include inspections, audits, and compliance checks, thereby maintaining product quality and safety.

The overall objective is to achieve departmental and company-wide quality objectives and contribute to the enhancement of current procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure adequate field inspections and audits to ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

• Evaluate, analyze and provide feedback on inspection reports including recommendations for consideration and implementation.

• Monitor and evaluate the implementation of quality control procedures and processes at various sites or locations.

• Collaborate with field QA Assistants to identify areas for improvement and develop action plans for the QA Manager’s approval for implementation.

• Train field QA Assistants on quality assurance protocols, procedures, and best practices to ensure consistent adherence to quality standards.

• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to quality assurance activities on the field, including inspection reports, audit findings, and corrective actions taken.

• Serve as the bridge between QA management and relevant stakeholders to provide updates on quality performance, issues, and improvement initiatives on the field.

• Perform any other duties that may be assigned.

JOB 3 – Raw Material Sourcing Manager – KOA

The Raw Material Sourcing Manager is responsible for utilising the learnings and experience in Community entry, training and farm supervision to envision a more pragmatic solution to solve the challenging and ever-dynamic farmer management concept.

It is his/her responsibility to continuously maintain, improve and optimise the sourcing concept and develop solutions for newly arising challenges in cooperation with the Agro Service department in the Operations Business Unit.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Training and Contracts

• Ensure all farmers contracted with Koa are trained

• Train, review and identify training potential for the farmers

• Train and manage of Raw Material Sourcing team

• Develop and maintain training materials in collaboration with Agro Services, QA and R&D

Farmer Management

• Liaise with community leaders for entry and participation of farmers

• Assist in developing and maintaining commercial relationships with farmers

• Liaise with I.T to obtain, update and maintain farmer master data for sourcing operations

• Assist in Designing and maintaining route planning in raw material sourcing

Raw Material Evacuation & Transport

• Coordinate the movement of respective raw material from the farm to the respective place of primary processing and respective return to the farmers

• Ensure the most efficient route planning and utilization of the existing farmer base for accessibility of raw material

• Coordinate the transportation of respective personnel and materials to the farmers for raw material sourcing activities

Stakeholder Operations

• Coordinate with IT and Agro Services on community and farm mapping of farmers within the operative region

• Coordinate with Agro Services and QA on organic cocoa sourcing

• Coordinate with Agro Services on-farm management and certifications for CFI

Reporting and Budgeting

• Assist in annual budget proposal of Raw material operations (incl. raw material)

Production Management

JOB 4- Sourcing Zonal Officer – KOA

The Sourcing Zonal Officer is responsible for working closely with our farmers through lead farmers, and zonal leads towards attaining the overall organizational production targets.

This position involves the identification and onboarding of new cocoa hotspots, leading farmer mobilization and organization efforts for daily production and other routine field activities while managing relationships with existing stakeholders (farmers).

The ideal candidate should have a firm understanding of the seasonal dynamics of cocoa production, strong analytical, organizational and communication skills, with a good understanding of the use of Microsoft Office tools.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the implementation of seasonal raw material sourcing plans through routine farmer organization efforts to meet daily raw material requirements.

• Enhance communication at the zonal level by maintaining contact and managing relationships with Koa’s farmers through the lead farmers, and offer feedback where applicable.

• Lead the implementation of rapid feasibility assessments and door-to-door programs to enhance raw material sourcing.

• Compile and coordinate the distribution of daily resource requirements for smooth sourcing activities within assigned zones.

• Ensure data integrity for sourced raw material data through tracking and reconciliation of buckets deployed versus buckets sourced in the appropriate documents.

• Track and manage utilization of organizational resources for all activities in assigned zones to expedite bucket delivery in the field and early bean arrival at the factory on production days.

• Identify and escalate all bottlenecks in the sourcing workflow to the appropriate quarters for prompt corrective action.

• Lead farmer grievance identification and resolution efforts in the assigned zone, alongside performing associated documentation tasks.

• Increase the sourcing potential of the organization through the identification and onboarding of new cocoa hotspots (communities or large farm holders) within assigned zones through comprehensive feasibility studies and enhanced Farm and Farmer Management Practices.

• Support the development and implementation of weekly work plans of the department through collaboration with relevant internal and external stakeholders.

• Develop leaderboards for tracking lead farmer raw material sourcing performance and ensure reconciliation of collected data with the organization’s production and finance teams.

• Assist in the documentation and communication of improved sourcing practices and systems.

• Perform auxiliary tasks as directed by the line manager.

• Up to 3 years of experience in Agricultural Commodity Sourcing, Agricultural Extension and Farmer relationship management, and Community Development or any related field is preferred.
